How to
Spot a Fraudulent Seller (eBay or otherwise)
Many eBay Sellers will try to
pass-off Chinese Glass or otherwise as Genuine Murano Glass. Here are a few
indicators that may help you determine if a sellers glass is Venetian/Murano or
not. These examples are not absolute, however, for the most part, you can "bank"
on these examples to be accurate depictions as to how some sellers will try and
fool you.
1) If a seller says they
have LARGE quantities of the same piece for sale...chances are the
pieces are not Murano.
2) If a seller consistently sells pieces from .01 to $25.00, it's
probably non-Murano. You can check by reviewing the sellers

3) If a seller doesn't indicate who the artist is, that's a pretty
good sign the maker has an Asian last name. There are only
about 85 artists on Murano Island, so it wouldn't be hard for a seller
to identify the creator of a particular piece for you.
4) ASK
US and we'll find out for
you. Murano Island is small and our contacts their know everything and
anythin
g that goes on and most importantly, what leaves the Island. If "mass" amounts of Paperweights, Swans,
Birds, Flowers, etc are being produced and exported, we'll know about
