Item Classifications:
Vintage:
Older than 1980 or from an estate most
likely older than 1980.
If we think an estate item
is relatively new, we call it contemporary
in the
body of the ad.
Vintage NBW:
Never been worn jewelry from vintage
unsold inventory.
1980s or older.
NBW:
Never been worn pieces. We are not entirely
sure as to how old it is.
It could be just a
few years old, but we believe it is no longer
produced
and we believe it is earlier than the
1980s.
New:
Currently new and in production. |
Item Age:
It is often hard to judge accurately as to when an
estate item may have been made.
If we make no claim
as to the age of an item, please do not make any
assumptions.
Please feel free to email for an age
estimate and we will do our best to judge for you.
We describe old unsold wholesaler or store stock as
Vintage NBW.
Many of these items are very hard to
date without knowledge of the manufacturer.
We
describe all items currently in production and
current wholesalers as NEW.
Plastics:
If no mold line is visible, and the item does not
test as bakelite,
we describe the item as lucite or
acrylic (for later plastics).
Plastics with mold
lines are described as plastic or hard plastic.
All
listings for bakelite type material include
information regarding how the item tests positive.
We use 409, Simichrome, and hot water as tests.
We will inform you as to which test the item passes.
Description:
Items may appear larger or smaller than in real
life.
Sizes are listed in the item's description.
All items are estimates and are done at maximum
size.
We try very hard to keep the naming conventions
straight and clean
because no one (including us)
wants to misrepresent.
It is very tough to tell
on the older things.
But when we buy new
merchandise from manufacturers,
it is certainly
easy to tell what is currently in production.
Those items which are currently in production,
we list as new.
If a new piece is done in
an Art Deco style, we will list it as "New Art
Deco Style."
Additional Information:
We endeavor to only offer items of very good and
better quality.
If we offer pieces of
lesser quality it is because we feel they
represent
an excellent example of design or
example of a particular designer's work
or we
feel it would be great to use as parts for craft
projects.
We do not clean any of the jewelry we
offer. It affects the value of the piece,
and
most costume pieces need careful handling to be
cleaned.
We do not consider tarnish to be a flaw
in sterling.
It is a naturally occurring
phenomenon which can be easily cleaned.
Sterling can be cleaned with a silver polish or
cloth,
and costume jewelry can be quickly
cleaned with a Q-tip and alcohol.
Any more
cleaning that will be needed will be mentioned
in the ad.
Most of the jewelry we offer is
described as very good or excellent.
We
try to grade them lower than they deserve so
that you will be satisfied when you see the
piece.
We evaluate TONS of jewelry. We do
make mistakes.
If you are not happy with your
purchase, please let us know as soon as possible
and feel free to take advantage of our return
policy.
