General Interest TIPS FROM THE PROS Backing a trailer can be hazardous to your emotional well being.  To help relieve some of the stress I have a hint; place your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and when you want the trailer to go left simply move the wheel to the left with the hand at the bottom of the steering wheel.  To make the trailer turn to the right move the wheel to the right.  With practice and patience this will become second nature.  I can’t do anything for your wife that points right but says left.  OOPS! I am showing gender bias. When descending a long steep grade I have found that is always best to keep the trailer or fifthwheel trailer behind you at all times.  One way I have found to help in this endeavor is using the manual slide lever on the brake control to apply the trailer brakes occasionally to keep the truck and trailer in line with each other.  As with any braking system try to avoid prolonged application to minimize heat build up and brake fade.  Remind your co-pilot that pressing his/her foot hard on the passenger floor does not aid in the actual braking process.  No gender bias in this tip.
